Home-Made Croutons

Please stop buying them. What a waste.

In a day-and-age when people are trying to “cut-back,” do yourself a favor and use what you have. This recipe is going to seem like a no-brainer for anyone who has A. ever bought French bread and had it gone stale in half a day or B. has used an oven. So here it goes … this is how I spent my Sunday morning … thus far …

Home-Made Croutons

- stale-ish French bread
- olive oil
- garlic
- salt
- rosemary
- oregano

Work with what you have. Heat the oven to 350. I had French bread, so that’s what I used, but any will do. I wanted a garlicy taste, without garlic bits, so in a small pot a heated olive oil and sliced garlic to infuse the oil, after this is done I just spoons out the garlic pieces, this trick is great for flavoring oil for just about anything.

Cut bread in 1” cubes and coat with oil on a baking sheet. Since I don’t have pepper grinder yet (give me a break, I’m still unpacking from the move), I used salt, rosemary, and oregano. Season to taste. Put in oven and check on, turning with a spatula as needed.

Voila, home-made tons!
